Founders Ryan Flanegan and Ryan Kuelpman met in college and were always looking for an opportunity to open and grow a business together. As a consultant to top retailers, Ryan Flanegan sees a growing opportunity to source and sell clearance goods in the growing online marketplace. IT consultant Ryan Kuelpman, who puts the “E” in e-commerce, agreed that this was the perfect endeavor.
Ryan and Ryan quit their stable and lucrative jobs. Their families and friends suggest therapy.
Recognizing its limitations, they remove the “is your name Ryan?” section of their interview process, and bring on their first non-Ryan partner, Jonathan Katz.
While continuing to pursue a leading presence in the closeout market, Firefly takes on its first brand partner, and develops an early formula for how to launch and grow brands online.
Bursting at the seams, Firefly cuts giant holes in their walls and doubles their warehouse and office space by taking over the adjoining suite. We either asked the landlord for forgiveness or permission—no one can quite remember at this point.
Firefly delights its one millionth customer! Our growing family of amazing brand partners, category leading products, and the best team out there, lands us in the top 1% of all online sellers. We were so busy we forgot to spray confetti everywhere. Though a Fun and Festive “Firefly Friday” was enjoyed by all…!
Once again in need of more space, Firefly TRIPLES its capacity, by teleporting to a brand new and shiny 67,000 square foot headquarters. Yeah you heard that right…tripled!
To support our brand partners, and keep our competitive edge sharp, we double down on our brand and product launch, and optimization process. This process is a key a part of how we make brands shine online!
Firefly delights it’s five millionth customer! We are recognized by Partnership Gwinnett as “Supply Chain Pioneer of the Year” for our work to streamline online sales and distribution for our dozens of valued brand partners. Forgot the confetti again, but upgraded to champagne!
